In August 2017, Members of the Sikh Motorcycle Club of B.C. rode through Surrey “to express the voice of the local community to save our kids from drugs and gun violence.” The rally was scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. from Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara and travelled through parts of Newton and Whalley before coming to an end at the RCMP station off Highway 10. There were 100-plus motorcycles and other community members in cars as well, who drove together in a symbol of unity against the gunfire plaguing their city.

It was a very peaceful joint effort to present our demand of intense and immediate intervention of RCMP Officials to make our city a safe place for our families, especially kids. We always wanted our city to be considered as a reputed city again where our children can feel safe and secure. We believe that any collective effort, with everyone pitchin in together, always makes a difference.

“If it just saves one life — it is worth an effort, right?”
