Sikh Motorcycle Club members in June 2016 had gone much longer than one of their typical leisurely trips: We spent two weeks on the road raising money for Canadian Cancer Foundation, and the funds were used for research and prevention for pediatric cancers and also children currently undergoing cancer treatments. On 13 bikes, the members rode a total of 12,000 kilometres – about 1,200 per day – through B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec, before turning around in Montreal.

During the ride, our members experienced the perils of Canada’s most difficult landscapes, along with extreme weather patterns ranging from hail to tornadoes in certain parts of the country. We would check into motels as late as 2 a.m. on some days, only to wake up at the crack of dawn to continue riding to their next destination. It was an exhausting journey, but what sustained us was the kindness of the communities and the Canadian people. With the blessing of Almighty, It was a safe trip, no accidents, no trouble on the motorcycles, everything was fine. The contribution of everyone made it possible for us to successfully raise around $115,000 during this ride which was all handed to Canadian Cancer Society.

Beyond fighting childhood cancers, the ride was successful in bringing different communities together. We are all proud Canadians and Sikh Motorcycle Club has always tried to give back to society in some way or the other.
